It has been a whirlwind week filled with highs and lows.
The kids and I were so fortunate to be able to attend the Production of The Lion King on Tuesday and I have been keeping busy helping with the preparations for my daughters Junior Prom.
At the same time we were saddened that.....
we were unable to visit my sister and her family to attend my niece’s Confirmation,
or my nephews 16th birthday,
that we had to attend the funerals of two family friends today,
then learning this morning of the passing of a former coworker.
I am tired right now….looking toward the weekend and keeping dear friends in our thoughts.
I am sure you are looking forward to the weekend too.
Take care, have fun, and enjoy every moment of it!
Woke to the smell of coffee this morning, rubbed the sand from my eyes, and wandered to the computer to check my email for messages left in the night.
Not really expecting much, I had to stop and rub my eyes twice more ~ For what I saw was a note that...
I had won the book drawing over at Carol Spinski's!!!
Her blog is called Raised in Cotton
I had stopped by March 30 (which by the way is my Birthday ) to see what was new and she had posted a giveaway for one lucky person to receive their very own copy ofFifi O'Neill's
I am so excited!!!!
How wonderful is that!?!?!?
I always look forward to stopping by to visit Carol...I love her style and her photography ~ It is just like being at home for me. Carol's home was featured in Fifi's (of whom I have been an admirer for some time now) book and I am so anxious to curl up and read it from cover to cover!
Can you tell??? I am really, really excited!!!!
Woo-Hoo Happy Dance!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you Carol!
It's like getting Whipped cream with Cherries on top ~ and all before breakfast!
So Sweet !!!!!!
Thanks Kim for use of your texture! :-)
I have been thinking about my grandparents lately ~ I guess it's only natural, March 17th would have been their wedding anniversary and we always gathered at their home to have Corned beef and cabbage with Irish soda bread to celebrate. I sure do miss them both as do many others.
In celebration I wanted to share this Irish Blessing with you. It hung on the kitchen wall of their home for as long as I can remember.
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back.
Wishing you a Happy St. Patrick's day!!!!
I will be fixing the Corned beef this year (without the cabbage since the hubby doesn't like the smell) but there wil be pleanty of potatoes to go along side. Still thinking I might make some soda bread.....
Another trip to NYC yesterday. A day filled with shopping, site seeing, and taking in a Broadway show.
We saw Memphis the Musical ~ which by the way is fabulous!
Not a very long post but wanted to share some images of the trip ~ Enjoy!
The Empire State Building from 5th Ave
Smiles from a successful day of shopping on 5th Avenue!
Harry Potter exhibit display
We hit the Lego store!
And the Chrysler building at night...just before leaving!
Not a very exciting routine today ~ paying bills, running errands, grocery shopping, picking up kids.
Upon my return home I looked at the branches of the lilacs poking through the snow and up towards the sky. To my delight I realized the buds on the lilacs are starting to swell!
Remembering this image I captured last year, I thought I'd share it with you....
Looking forward to their heavenly scent and the chance to sit on the porch once again .
I love to take my morning stroll after everyone has left for the day and this morning is no exception. The promise of a new day, the birds are singing, the sky is blue and it is a balmy 47 degrees.
As is the case, I carry my camera with me to keep a memory of what each morning is like in my own little corner of the world.
This morning a gift was left by Mother Nature....
A lovely little heart...left in the melting snow with a sneak peak of what promises to come.
Here's to finding little tokens of love ~ may they be a card, a hug, a kiss, some flowers, or a snowy heart shaped grass filled heart ~ a simple Valentine found in the most unlikely of places.
Wishes to you for a Happy Valentine's Day!
Spent the day with girlfriends yesterday....
for our annual luncheon ~ a tradition that has been taking place
since I "Retired" 9 years ago ;-)
Lot's to catch up on since so much happens in a years time...I really enjoy their friendship.
We exchanged lovely gifts, ate lots of really good food and laughed and laughed. I hated to see it end and was sad to say goodbye....it is always such fun.
Things are quieter today....nothing exciting really, just relaxing at the moment and waiting for the snow to arrive.
No more paper snowflakes for us I guess...3 - 5 inches are predicted. It's not a lot for us but everyone is hoping for a snow day ~ even me.
For now, thought I'd enjoy some homemade bread with jam and butter and a fresh hot cup of pomegranate tea.
Please feel free to stop over at Simply Stated Signature Cakes to see my latest creation.
All the best to you!
