Another trip to NYC yesterday. A day filled with shopping, site seeing, and taking in a Broadway show.
We saw Memphis the Musical ~ which by the way is fabulous!
Not a very long post but wanted to share some images of the trip ~ Enjoy!
The Empire State Building from 5th Ave
Smiles from a successful day of shopping on 5th Avenue!
Harry Potter exhibit display
We hit the Lego store!
And the Chrysler building at night...just before leaving!
A sucker for flowers I couldn't pass these up just the other day ~ what a lovely assortment of autumn colors much like a pretty mosaic .... perfect for starting the month of November.
Have a beautiful day
A dear friend called me a couple of weeks ago and asked me if I would be interested in joining her group in a Felting class. Longing to "get away" for a bit to do something fun ~ I of course jumped at the opportunity and marked the date on my calendar!
We met up with each other and car pooled to Mansfield, Pennsylvania to attend class at
What a delightful treat! After a lovely ride enjoying good company and beautiful autumn scenery. We arrived to see rolling hills dotted with grazing sheep. Specifically their own sheep from which they harvest the wool they turn into yarns, roving, and fleeces.
They offer many types of classes, can do custom dying for you, and kits too.
Add a charming atmosphere and a gracious host and it is a fabulous experience.
This is where we started first we took roving and felted a ball shaped core for our project.
Such beautiful locks ~ each 4" - 6" long they are the most wonderful colors... creating a lovely natural variegated appearance.
Only a touch a green for a stem and leaf
And here we have the finished project....a pretty little pumpkin. Perfect for my autumn decoration here at home....I actually bought more roving and locks to create a few more lovelies to join this little treasure. I cannot wait to start them.
I love the process and the feel of the natural fibers...but even more fun is spending the afternoon with friends.
If you ever have the opportunity to try this type of project I highly recommend it. I think you will have just as much fun.
And if you are ever in the area stop by and visit Yorkshire Meadows ~ you will really enjoy your visit...but.... be sure to take plenty of spending money because it will be soooo difficult to leave without something! ;-)
It's way past my bedtime and I'm still working. It's after 1:30 in the morning and I am finishing up.
Told you that I was going out treasure hunting yesterday and I found some lovelies!
Most at the shop now after a fun photo shoot.
Told you they were lovely ;-)
I have lots more to do ~ If you are familiar with me on Etsy you notice that this is a new store location.
SimplyAesthetic is still open but I will be making some transitions over the next several days.
Sweet dreams
I sit and wait...for a delivery this morning. I have made good use of the time ~ breakfast dishes are all done, 4 loads of laundry are washed, dried, and put away. And now I am on to washing and drying fabric that I have saved for what seems like years ~ this time....I will be sure to create something with it! (the same promise I made to myself last year)
I have also been playing around with some of the photos I have been taking over the last couple of days. I discovered some new textures that are free from Clive Sax . They are gorgeous....moody, stormy, cool and warm at the same time....I really like them and they are perfect for this time of year.
I especially like what they can do for an image...here is the original of the image shown above...
I love the original but I love how the whole mood changes with the addition of some textures!
What do you think?
Once again I am completely drawn to warm colors, rough textures, and weathered objects. I have also learned that I guess I never really noticed just how much I love Orange...
It certainly goes well with my other favorites.....red, gold, burgundy, brown.... ;-)
These colors radiate warmth and comfort to me...I find that I even feel better, more confident when I am wearing these colors. Which brings me to another favorite...my cool weather wardrobe...my love of sweaters, boots, tweeds, plaids, hats, scarves, lace, jackets, gloves....
Here is one of my favorite looks
Love the layers and textures...of fashion as well and Autumn feeds my need perfectly
And boots galore!!!
Sweaters, sweaters, and more sweaters!!!!
A gorgeous sweater and skirt from Orvis. There stores are wonderful, I picked up a felt hat at the 5th Ave. store while in NYC last March and I cannot wait to wear it again soon....
Accessories are another fun item at this time of year....and here are a few from Etsy
Loving this little cowl from KerreraSkye on Etsy
A Hand made vintage rose pin from ozmaofodds.
Love this necklace made by Jamie at SimplyMeArt
I hope you have the chance to stop by and see what else there is to be found. As I finish up the delivery man has arrived ~ perfect timing! ;-)
Have a wonderful day and keep in touch ~ I love to read your comments!
